My Friend is wanting to open a cleaning business. Commercial and residential cleaning. I am guessing that to land some of these gigs, she must be bonded. She has a couplke of felonys on her record. Can she get bonded?

I am a parole officer in Colorado. It may depend on the laws in your state and the type of felonies and how long it's been since her convictions but I know I have had several parolees over the years that were able to be bonded.

Hi, Tsekrad!

In affirmation of the above answer, yes, a person who's had a felony conviction can get bonded. However, whether bonding is needed or not for a cleaning service may depend on the location where the cleaning is to be done.

I know that around where I live, it's not a requirement for those in that profession to be bonded if they're self-employed. So, for them to be bonded may just be an unnecessary expense.

Best to be checking with the government in place where the cleaning is to be done concerning the requirements about bonding.

Thanks!

Bonding is not needed unless you have customers that require it
