I had the same problem with WMP 10 so I downloaded WMP 11 and installed it. Still have the same problem. All CD's, DVD's and most .wmv files that come over the internet play just fine. But a few of them show only the video and no audio. In checking with a couple of people who sent the .wmv file to me, the file played fine for them. Other files with the same extension, play just fine. Any suggestions?

You may need some codecs to play these files, do you have DivX or Xvid installed ? Most video files online are encoded in this format, I do it myself. Your friends may have other software on there PCs that you don't have and those codecs came with there software.

I think I have solved the problem. I installed XP Codec pack (free) from
Free-Codecs.com : XP Codec Pack 2.4.5 is one of the most completed codec packs (http://www.free-codecs.com/XP_Codec_Pack_download.htm)
.wmv file that didn't have any audion before, works now. Just for your information, I did have XVID installed before and it didn't work. Thanks for the reply. I am HAPPY!!
