I have a GE side by side fridge that has never been a problem till the past few days, little by little it started not cooling properly. We cleaned the coils, made sure the drain hole was not plugged, unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in. I think it started after I took a 20LB turkey out of the freezer and put it in the fridge for 3 days. We also had the bad habit of putting a box of bottled water on the top shelf in front of the light and keeping it there. We stopped that. Now there is some frost on the back panel of the freezer all of the way down and the fridge is struggling to get colder, but so far is only at 62 degrees and the freezer is at 40. This fridge is only 6 years old and I really can't afford a repairman right now at Christmas if I can help it. Can you help me. The model # is TFX22CRDA BB. THANKS A MILLER

Sounds like you are having a problem with the self defrost system. The defrost timer, defrost bi metal thermostat and the heater are the three parts of that system. You will have to test the parts to see which one is bad or do like I do and replace all three on a service call. Usually if one part is defective the other two are not far behind. If you have no way to test or do not know how to test replace all three.
