Hello Members/Experts,

I am working for an international company.
I was transferred from Japan to an US subsidiary in May 2008 with an Blanket-L1 visa. I am supposed to go back to Japan in February 2009. For many reasons, I asked my company to let me stay in US. Currently, I am paid by Japan, I would like to be a local employee (paid by US) of this same company. I was told that it is difficult because I am illegal in US and that I need an H1-B visa... From what I have checked, I think it is wrong. Could you confirm me that if I am working within the same company, even if my contract changes from a japanese contract to an US contract, the Blanket L1 visa is valid temporary?
My visa expires in October 30th, 2010 and can be extented 2 years more from what I have understood. My company does not do green card, is it possible to apply for a green card by myself? Are there other possibilities than marrying someone?

Thank you very much for your answers!

From L-1 to green card is doable if the employer is willing to sponsor you.

Without sponsor the only chance to obtain green card by yourself is E-Visa. You must be an investor with minimum one million dollars invested in US. There are more details to this issue, better discuss with the attorney.
