Hello.

I work on the Reception for a massive computer company. I am externally employed by a Security Firm.

There is a café with access gained behind Security doors and the café employee keeps on coming behind the desk to use our computer for G Mail. I have be friended him but I do not compromise with Un Godliness.

My management came the other day and they are quite strict about what goes on around here.

I also discovered that whilst they are not here we can be reported to them by the computer company staff.

I did not mention the computer thing to them because myself and the other receptionist are all right with 'Tony' the Café worker.

After a while I said he has to stop.

It's a corporate building and he's wearing an apron and sitting at the desk obviously ignoring visitors and the phone etc because he's not a receptionist.

My colleague is allows him to although it's a bit tricky not to as he comes regardless and just uses it even after telling him over and over again.

I have also tried to advise her on Reception ettiquette i.e. no mobiles, eating but she still does it. There's a cloak room behind our desk and she leaves her coat and scarf on the chair and hanging on the wall in Recepion etc.

I follow these practices although I have been late a few times which has now stopped so I have o be careful also.

So, about 'Tony'. I have told his manager he should not be around here but 'Tony' is very rebellious to rules and does not see the reasoning at all.

How do I avoid being seen as a mean person rather than fulfill righteousness without being a drag?

The rules I follow are laid down by the company but lack of on site Management means things are quite laxidasal.

Daniel was held in high esteem for his religious and strict relationship with God.

What should I do?

Thanks

Where I work it is like double standards. You report them and nothing is done. You do something similar and they complain about you and exaggerate. You are told/warned about it. They do the same thing only on a more regular basis and they get away with it.
It is a no win situation because they are going to do things the way they do and nothing changes. So basically you have to just over look what they do and do what is required of you.

Document, Document and Document, you do your job, first are they even suppose to be using the computer at your work station, if no, don't let them, They are not suppose to be greeting people I will assume that is your job.

You do YOUR job and don't worry about anything else, Report this to your supervisor if you can not handle the situation.

First of all, pray.

Also, as Fr_Chuck suggested, document that you have told Tony that he's breaking the rules and that he won't listen to you.

If you have a friend in management, speak to him or her confidentially. Tell him you've told Tony he's breaking the rules but apparently you don't have enough authority to make him stop.

However, be prepared for the worst. This, in my opinion, could be considered a breach of security (i.e. access gained behind Security doors). Especially if the guy doesn't work for your company. Security is a big issue these days.

You're in our prayers,

Sincerely,

De Maria
