I just bought light kits for all four harbor breeze fans in the house. Light kits are harbor breeze brand. After following the directions with the kits and connecting the correct wires (it was easy as they were marked in the fan), the fan continues to work, but no go with the lights. I thought maybe I had a bad light kit or bad wiring in the first fan, but tried multiple light kits on two of the fans in separate rooms and got the same results. I'm wondering if there is a connector farther up in the fan assembly that wasn't done correctly when it was installed by the home's previous owners. Unfortunately, to get any deeper into the fan, the whole thing has to come off the ceiling.

Yes and yes. Make sure the blue wire is connected in the ceiling.
