I just got this in an e-mail.

You can check the report of your activities in the past 6 months that we have attached. We strongly advise you to stop your activities regarding the illegal downloading of copyrighted material or your internet access will be suspended.

Of course, not being stupid, I didn't open the attached file. But this is a new phishing scam I hadn't encountered before. So I thought I'd let people know to beware.

The awful spelling and grammar would be my first tipoffs. "Consorcium"!! Good grief!!

Now if only these scammers would learn English, they might be a force to reckon with. Of course, it definitely helps that the reader knows good English and how to spell...

I agree, anyone with an ounce of common sense is going to see through this. But, as we have seen time and time again, there are people who will fall for this.

Well, unfortunately, yes, good sense can be a rare commodity, never mind the English "grammer." Is there any kind of Internet police force that goes after scammers like the phisher above?--anyone to report this to? RickJ maybe?

The FTC used to have a place to report these things.
