I just purchased a 32" flat screen Vizio LCD TV. I want to purchase a DVD/VCR combo so I can record TV programs with the VCR and watch movies with the DVD player. I connect to a cable service with a straight through cable from the wall (no boxes at all). What sort of DVD/VCR player do I purchase and how do I hook it up? Does it need to have a tuner built into the DVD/VCR since I have no extra set top boxes? I would appreciate any help that someone can give me as I am a novice at this. I am very computer literate but not so much with TV's, DVD's, etc. Thanks so much.

You will need a Tuner to select whick channel to record. DVD combo likely won't have HDMI, so use component first(red, blue, and green cables)if TV and DVD don't have Component, use Composite(yellow for video, and red and white for audio).
The component will also need red and white for audio.
You may have better audio on both units(optical/coaxial)
