I have a 70 series Kenmore electric dryer that won't turn off even though the clothes are dry. The control knob does not move from the set position. The timed dry cycle works normally. I removed the vent hose without any difference noted. Any ideas what may be wrong?

There is a sensor that tells the timer to start turning when the clothes are drying. If the sensor or possibly the sensor relay is defective that will stop the timer from turning(working) in the auto dry mode. The timed cycle uses no drying sensor just the standard perset heat sensor to turn the heat off and on.

I cannot find the sensor. Is it in the drum? And where is the relay? Could it still be a defective timer?
