I have a hot water supply leak under my kitchen sink. It appears limited to two PVC pipes(one coming straight from a metal pipe and the other joints downwards). Can I replace these pipes and if so how do I remove them? Should my local hardware store have what I need?

Hi Jswizzle...

Could it possibly be CPVC you are talking about? PVC is not allowed on hot water lines??

Either way, if cpvc or pvc is connected to a metal pipe there needs to be a threaded fitting so that should be easy enough to remove by spinning fitting counterclockwise using some pliers/wrenches (hold against yourself).

The pipe going downward probably connects into metal pipe downstairs... this can be removed down there by disconnecting the threaded fitting and then go from there.

The local hardware store should DEFINITELY have the correct fittings to put this back together using the correct pipe and fittings!

If you have any more questions let us know...
