View Full Version : Is weed good or bad?

Probably 3 months before now I was completely against weed. I hated the smell and the way I thought it made people act. My new boyfriend who is fantastic loving smart caring generous funny and all the things a boyfriend should be is a complete pot head. At first it bothered me. Then since he wanted to do it so much and I found him hilarious after he smoked and so cute I started encouraging it and then eventually he talked me into trying. The first couple time it made me paranoid then really hungry and then sleepy and as I got more used to the high it got me relaxed, happy, optimistic, humorous then hungry and the sleepy side affect went away. Don't get me wrong... I do get high but that only lasts for about 10 to 30 minutes max.
Now that I smoke I'm happier, healthier I think because I eat better and more often, smarter cause when I smoke I want to learn new things, and now I'm way more social. I can't see how smoking could be bad anymore.
But then I think it has to be bad... it is illegal right? So I did my online research and so far the conclusion I'm getting is natural homegrown supervised weed is harmless but the street stuff can be dangerous because it can be cut with other drugs i.e. coke, meth, crack, etc etc. But the one repeating answer I keep reading is that weed is harmless.
My question is... "is weed good or bad? Does anyone have any stories about a bad trip or some sort of sickness caused by weed??"

You are telling people to not do things that they don't like.. you did exactly that..
One word comes to mind for that... hypocrite..
You're saying that you feel better and more healthy while intoxicated?? Does that sound normal to you?
Sounds to me that you got pressured into doing something that you didn't want to do.. and now you're just trying to justify it.. go change your avatar please and stop being a hypocrite

Pot can be fun at first... but after so long it does change a person. You may feel healthier? You man feel you want to learn?
It all changes. It can become addictive. You may become lazy and you may need it just to do your normal everyday activities that you used to do without smoking. You are taking a chance.

My friend is a major pot head, he smokes weed at least 10 times a day, everyday. He can't function without it, becomes very angry, aggressive, depressed, and physically ill if he doesn't get his daily fix.
He started much like you, he just tried it one time, liked how it made him feel and kept doing it. Now he needs it, can't live without it.
In the last few years he's become a completely different person than the fun loving, happy go lucky, motivated person he used to be.
He works, smokes pot and sits around, that's all, and he only works to pay for his habit, otherwise he'd just sit around and smoke pot all day.
It's your choice. I'm not going to say don't do it, I can't, it's your body, your choice, but, you are kidding yourself if you think it's actually making you healthier and smarter, it isn't.
I've smoked pot, it's not all it's cracked up to be when you become addicted to it.
And just so I'm clear. I'm all for pot use for people with a medical condition where pot actually helps, but that's not what's going on here. You are well on your way to being a pot head. Is that what you want?

Right now you are in the honeymoon stage with pot. Sure, everything seems more fun, more vibrant, etc. etc. Since you are not really smoking a whole joint and are high for only 10 minutes to 30 minutes means that you are just taking a hit or two off the bf's joint. In the long run you will end up craving more and more pot as your body becomes immune to the drug. What are you going to do when you don't have access to what you call your homegrown variety? You'll be at whatever street dealer's mercy you'll be dealing with in hopes that you will get just plain old pot and not laced with who knows what. Pot can be laced with formaldehyde (embalming fluid) to give an extra kick and also an extra kick that makes your brain feel like it's fried mush. That was a recent craze in Houston, by the way and you aren't too far from Houston so don't think they won't try that where you live either. You won't know about this type of pot until you end up actually smoking it and wondering why you got ill. They also spike it with other things as well. You left out heroin from your list of what they spike pot with.
Right now your boyfriend seems funny, witty, etc blah blah blah as he is probably in the first blush of being a pot addict as well. It's only when someone smokes it for years they become moody, cranky, nasty and unliveable unless they had their daily "fix" of pot. And yes, it will happen, believe me.

Nothing is bad, until it becomes a problem in your life. Its fun, and social now, but when it crosses the line, and causes problems, then you had better pay attention. Potheads, and drinkers, are all the same to me, and when they screw up, it's their own fault, not what they ingested.
Most of the addicts, and drunks, I know, started the same way you did, having a great time cause it felt good.
So be careful what your getting into. You'll be the last to know that your in trouble.

Saturday I went to my family doctors office. I told her about my experience with weed. She told me marijuana has never been known to cause any kind of cancer or disease. But marijuana is mentally addicting. She also said it dangerous because of the posibility it may be laced with other drugs. After I explained how I felt like a door had been opened in my life and how I felt so much better and social and happier now she prescribed me xanax. So far I've take 2 pills. One Saturday and one this morning. I don't know why xanax is legal but marijuana isn't. Xanax makes me way higher than weed. But it is legal. I've halfed my recommended dose which makes me feel just like a I smoked. So I guess there is a healthier alternative to weed. And I'm loving it.

My Dr did the same thing to me when I told him I smoked like 10 years ago. Be careful with that Xanax. My Dr prescribed it to me and I hated it. I took it for about a month and then stopped and went back to herb. With Xanax I would wake up in the morning and Have no Idea how I got there and I wasn't even drinking on it ( I was to afraid to drink with while taking them). That never happened with Herb.
I could feel myself getting edgy when I didn't take xanax and all I could think about was Xanax when I didn't take it. That never happened with Herb. And when I was on Xanax I noticed my friends hated to be around me (most of my friends DO NOT smoke). I never told them I was on Xanax but after I got off it and told them about it they said I was real out there and Half the time I made no sense when I was talking. But they were relived because I was a totally different person.
I would guess Xanax side effects would be different with all people but that was my experience with it and I haven't taken it in about 10 years. To be honest that was the worst month of my life. I'll take herb over any of those other meds.

Be careful with xanax too. It has been known to be addictive as well.
I know your doctor prescribed it, but just be careful :)

Anything you take, drink, smoke, or shoot, to feel good is a red flag, and you need to pay attention.
That goes for what a doctor gives you too, as prescription drugs, are just as harmful as street drugs. In many cases they are a lot worse.

Is weed good or bad?Hello chrissymarie:
That's not a question that can be answered. Inanimate objects aren't good or bad. They just are. Kind of like a rock isn't good or bad, unless it hits you in the eye. Even then it isn't the rock that's bad. It's the person who threw it.
So, pot just is. Some people use it with no ill effects. Others use it to their detriment. One of the major negatives about pot is the legal ramifications of smoking it. They're MUCH WORSE than any thing that can come from just smoking it.
Plus, nobody adulterates their pot. That's just rumor.
