View Full Version : Where to find a trans for a John Deere Rider
I have a 175 with a bad trans, the mower runs too good to let it go.
Where can I find a used trans, where do I look for one.
NO,I am not E-Bay smart, but I am willing to try it if this is the best place to look.
Thanks,
KBC

Hi,
Is a good machine! Which trans? Can have an Eaton hydro attached to a Peerless transaxle or a Kanzaki. Later is rare, but out there. Easy way to tell is location of the dump valve lever, in front of the seat in center, Eaton; under the seat and push down, Kanzaki.
Sure it is the trans? Unless you have been pulling heavy loads regularly, it is pretty bullet-proof. Differential usually breaks in the loaded situation and can be rebuilt. I have even seen the axle break and only it needed to be replaced.
Last question, promise! Had one or both rear wheels off? Lose one or both keys that secure them to the axle? Okay, it was two questions. Easy way to tell; look at the wheels and push forward. If one axle spins inside the wheel in the opposite direction, the key is missing.
Other than that ask a local dealer if he knows and/or who he sells his junkers to.
Peace,
Clarke
Haven't had wheel problems, just trans slipping after it heats up.I lose reverse altogether and that is a definite need for winter snow removal.
Got a rebuilt trans from Deere, now to see how difficult to replace it.Thank goodness for swapping work with a mechanic.
