Just noticed today that water is coming out of bottom of furnace. Not much but wondered if anyone knows what it could be. Its an older furnace, just regular kind. Water heater is about 1 foot behind the furnace. I've had the a/c running a lot because of hot weather. Could it have anything to do with the a/c? I checked postings to see if something similar was posted but the last one was ended about 4 months ago and there didn't seem to be any definite answer.

Your air conditioning system has an evaporator coil and drain pan, which is located above the furnace blower motor. The drain pan is connected to a PVC drain pipe, which drains to the outside of the house. Sometimes fungus/algae start to grow in the drain pipe and on the evaporator coil. When this gets bad, the condensate can overflow the drain pan and make a mess. It's a good idea to pour 8 parts water to 1 part Clorox bleach down the opening of the drain pipe twice a year, to keep the line free of fungus. If you suspect this is your situation, you might decide to call an HVAC technician to clean your evaporator coil. If left unattended, this can become a real health issue.

I suspect it is your condensate from your air conditioner evaporator. Do you know where that line drains?
Be sure it's not coming from your hot water heater.

This just happened to me after turning the a/c on. There was a pool of water running from under the furnace. We checked the furnace filter & it was pretty dirty, clogged with dust. We changed it & turned the a/c off. The next day I turned it on again & checked after a few hours & there was no water leaking out. I think it was condensation from the hot/cold air that couldn't get through the dirty filter.

I have water leaking from my furnace... the repair man just left 1 hour ago... He shut off the furnace and closed the gas. He said this is very dangerous and this can create carbon monoxide in the house... I'm getting a new furnace tomorrow!! The carbon monoxide could have been present within a week...
