Ok, I am sure there are some people on here who work for Air Conditioning companies, and I need their help/advice.
Over the last few weeks at random, my a/c will just switch off. The air handler in the house stays on. The thermostat stills says cool, and even the unit outside is still on, but if you go outside and hold your hand over it, there is cool air coming out from it. If you shut the power off to the A/C/Heat, and mess with it for a while, it will cut back on and blow cool, but only for a little while.
Then it repeats all over again. It has on a few occasions turned the heat on, so I physically turned the gas off to the furnace. I have tried multiple thermostats so I don't think that is it. Perhaps the wiring, but the doesn't explain why it works sometimes and doesn't other. This morining it was 68 deg. Inside, the a/c has stayed on continuosly and it is now 74.
Also, it only seems to act up on the weekends when we are home using the a/c all day. During the week it is on a prog. Thermostat so it is turned off all day until the evening.
Any help is appreciated.
