My husband has a credit card & savings account with HDFC bank. He had asked for a settlement on his credit card, so he didn't make 2 months payment. The bank has put a lien on his savings account & have taken out the money without informing us. Do they have the authority to do so..?

I'm assuming the savings account was also with HDFC. If you read the fine print of the contract, it probably states that they can seize balances in accounts maintained with the same bank for delinquency.
