My fiance's ex-girlfriend wants him to sign on as her sons father if his father terminates his rights... does she really need someone to sign on as the father if he does decide to terminate his rights as the child's father??

No she does not and your financee does not have to.
It may not be that easy to terminate his rights through the courts. Laws vary from state to state, but most times it has to be an unfit parent.

I don't think she researched the subject enough. The bio father can't just sign away his rights and she would have to be married to the man for at least a year before an adoption could take place (have someone sign on as a father). Where are you located?

I don't understand why your fiancé would agree to paternity/support/visititation for a child he knows is not his, which obligations will go on and on and on.
You are confusing adoption with surrending rights, I believe. Why doesn't "she" pursue the father for support?
Otherwise, Stinawords is right.
