I cannot get my hp pavilion notebook to respond, it started all of a sudden. When my num lock is on my letters on the keyboard turn into numbers... I=5 and so forth. Now when my num lock is off my keyboard works fine but I cannot use the number pad.
I tried the fn key with almost every key on the laptop. I pressed them together, one after the other and so on... I contacted hp and they advised me to update my bios... I did, didn't work... I ununstalled the keyboard then restarted and let it reinstall... didn't work.

can someone help me. Now hp wants to charge me money to try stuff that probably won't work either.
thanks in advance for all your knowledge.

Well wait... I don't understand, on laptop keyboards some of the letters double as numbers when num lock is on... this is normal.

I don't get what the actual error is... or maybe I just missed it.

Completely agree there LT as this sounds like perfectly normal operation.

Have you considered purchasing a separate USB number pad, if that's the functionality you believe you are missing.
