Can my new partner of 1 years adopt my little girl from a previous relationship. My child's father was involved in her life to begin with but then it filtered out. He was a violent abusive alcoholic. He is on birth certificate. My child already calls my new partner daddy because that's all she has known. Just want to know how I go about it and do I need his permission.:)

1. Get married.
2. Get a lawyer.
3. Have the bio father sign away his parental rights.
4. Have the lawyer draw up adoption papers.
5. Go to court, and have the adoption finalized.
