OK... embarassing story.

First time I tried to have sex... my boyfriend couldn't quite fit inside properly and I bled quite a bit so we stopped. This was a few weeks ago and because I'm 20 today I got a letter telling me I'm now due for a smear test if I have been sexually active... but I don't know if I had sex, I've heard if you haven't had sex and have the test it can really hurt and I don't know what to do, help!

You have had sex. If you bled, you had sex.

It is very important to get your yearly test now, it can prevent possible life threatening illnesses.

I've read though that you can bleed if you are tense or if you aren't lubricated enough though?

It's possible if sex is rough, but if it is your first time, most likely it is your hymen breaking that causes the bleeding.
