I just bought a house in a sub division that is brand new. I closed two months ago. I just received a notice that the plumbers were not paid and have placed a lien on my house. My title insurance says it does not cover "mechanic liens". Anyway this seems like fraud. The framers could come back and file a claim for $50,000 and the insulators could claim $10,000, and the painters could claim $10,000... You get the point. So am I stuck with the bill? What should I do?
