Need some help from the folks on my wife's car:

1. As she drives the car, rarely, she noticed that the engine stalls. It happened once when she was driving on highway about 50mph. Power-steering freezes and abs kicks in and she had to pull-over, crank up the engine again and head out.

2. I noticed that the speedo meter doesn't kick in immediately as I drive the car. It takes about few minutes before the speedometer needle starts to show the mph.

3. I also noticed that the car seems to drag when starting from a stopped-position to acceleration. It drags for a couple of seconds and then it drives fine. Its as if the tires are letting loose from a grip or something to that effect.

Any help from the experts as to potential problems and any recommendations in Raleigh/Durham, NC would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The power steering shouldn't have much to do with it. Anytime the engine isn't running, you won't have any power steering. Power brakes work for a limited time on the vacuum in the booster.

The ABS could be confused because you have a brake dragging problem. This often happens if you reline the brakes, but don't take care of the hardware. Calipers must be free to float in and out in order to apply and release the brakes. If you have rear drums, the springs are usually shot by the time the brake shoes wear out. Calipers and wheel cylinders eventually need to be rebuilt.

I would check out the operation of the brakes and get back with what you find if they are working properly. Follow ups work much better here than other places.
