Hello, I have a 1957A one dollar silver certificate that is hand singed by Elizabeth Randel Smith numbered A 00000459 A. This bill was given to me by my grandmother who got it as a thank you gift from the White House for the many years that she had done volunteer work. I have the envelope and letter that it came in and with addressed from the White House. This bill is super crisp and 100% flawless. In fact it looks as if it had just been printed. The bill has been stored in a protective cover and has hardly ever been handled. I believe that this note is very rare and highly sought after due to it being hand autographed, low serial number, and its immaculate condition. Thank you for the professional help in finding a ball park value.

Hi, Flying Blue Eagle!

I've never heard of hand autographed currency. Would you please mind explaining a little about that?

I'm not intending to hijack this thread with a separate question, but it does seem appropriate here given the nature of the original question.

Thanks!

CLOUGH- good eveninmg there friend
I've been wondering what happened to you tjhen I realized that it was aekend and you were probably doing a gig :: good to hear from thiough;; NOW TO GET TO YOUR QUESTION . About a HAND SIGNED PIECE OF PAPER CURRENCY ;; Sometimes one of the treasures will hand sign a note for a good friend or a collector ;; at one time there was one that would invite guests and visitors in to his office just to get them to sign a regerster he had and a lot of them were given a note with his own signature on it right then . AS far as any being put in the books , they don't ,you will not find any listed in the books , Ones that are still out are in collections . I don't think thsat a lot of people realized just what they were being given and just hiow vauleabl they would be latter on .I know that if I wouldf have had one I would have kept it under raps ,until they started to surface ; OH SEE MY NOTE . ( When I got home today I hadf a letter addressed to me from WASHINGTON . NO NOT FROM OBMA BUT CLOSE :: ( IT IS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY:: SIGNED BY JIM MARSHALL : IT is in answer to the question I sent a while back on the SIGNATURES OF ANDERSON ON CERTAIN BILLS AND HE WAS<T EVEN IN OFFICE YET ;;
( I HAVE GOT TO FIGGURE OUT HOW TO SEND SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND POST IT ON THE SITE ::
I am going to type it out and post it

THANK YOU FOR YOUR LETTER OF OCT ,31 ,2008;; YOU would like to know how SECRETARY of the treasury " ROBERT ANDERSON "S signature appears on the ( UNITED STATES NOTE, SERIES 1953 A , { $ 5.00 dollar } <THE {$ 50.00 FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE <SERIES 1950 B and the {$ 100.00 } FEDERAL RESERVE NOTTE <SERIESW 1950 B < WHEN he held office from juyl 29, 1957 to JANUARY 20, 1961.
YOU appear to be of the opinion that these particular notes series were delivered or issued before the start of andersoin's term of office.
\ Contray to your opinion , The records show that each series was delivered or issued at least a month after anderson became SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY . THE beginning delivery dates for these series are provided below..
