I was diagnosed with depression in August 2006. I have been taking anti-depressents since then but they don't help.
I was signed off work for a month in April and my work monitored me constantly, because I was not performin well enough, they told me that if I didn't resign I would be sacked, so I handed in my notice with no job to go to. Now I spend every day on my own trying to find a job, I hate being alone so much. I rely on my boyfriend so much, when he leaves to go home I cry because I am only relaxed and happy when he's there and can't cope when he leaves.
I am so needy and cry at stupid stuff because I can't cope.
I can't concentrate on anything when I'm alone so I can't even read or watch TV and then I end up texting my boyf so much and end up hassling him.
I don't know why I am like this. Pills don't work for me, I have only tried a couple of different ones, but then I get upset that I need to take pills to be happy.
I don't know where to go from here or what to do?

Along with meds, you must be in counseling. You cannot rely on meds to do all the work. As you've noticed, the meds will need dosage adjustment or even a change. A counselor who works with depressed clients will allow you to vent and will help you set goals, for instance, and will make you accountable in keeping those goals. The counselor or therapist will have other ideas and solutions up his or her sleeve, so please ask the prescribing doctor for some names of counselors, call them to find a good fit with one of them, and then make at least one appointment a week (and keep the appointments!).
Meanwhile, please let us know how it's going. We love to hear success stories!

What about adopting a cat from a shelter?*** Not a kitten, but an adult cat about whom the shelter knows the history and can connect you with the right one (although all my cats chose me, not me them, but that's another story).
You didn't say how old you are and if you live at your parents' home (which I'm guessing is the case). A cat will give you company and unconditional love--and also a litter box to scoop out...
***Or an adult dog -- so many of the wonderful older ones get overlooked because people want puppies.
Anyway, just a thought and it might give you something else to live for.

I am 20. I live on my own but I hate it because I am too scared to sleep of my boyfriend doesn't stay over. I have 2 kitties, I got them to keep me company but it didn't really work! I love them though :-)

You sound like I did in the beginning of my med taking.
Couldn't get out of the funk no matter what I did.
That was the problem, what I wanted to do!
Until I accepted that;
1) My best efforts would lead me back to the depression.
2) Without counseling and regular med changes, I would go back to the depression.
3) That I was a person with a chemical imbalance, who will need medicated for the rest of this depression, which might be a life time, but only one day at a time.
I fought and fought, said I didn't need those drugs to feel better, and years later,, what do you think happened? I want back to being depressed! Go figure!
The depression,as explained to me, would tell me,"I am ok,I just need to relax, take it easy, this will pass on its own"
That didn't happen,ever.
Since I accepted help and medications, support from professionals who know more than I do,and advise things that make sense,my life has done a 180.Now I have regular days, regular nights, regular relationships, etc.
If you want to feel better, think about this and get the help you deserve, don't fall prey to the depression anymore.
I hope to hear from you again, soon.

You have to think like a cat. Lie down on the carpet and let them realize how like a cat you are. Stack up some empty boxes and some paper grocery bags and watch them play. Buy or make some interactive toys like a flicker thing with feathers on the end, feathers they can chase as you move it around, or toss wadded up newspaper balls or SOMEthing. Play with them! (Should I tell you about the Titanic game I invented and play with Thomas Jefferson?)
