My 18yr old daughter is pregnant, the father and her argue all the time they hit each other and its just crazy. She still lives at home and going to school she has gotten 3 assault charges from them fighting, his family is against my daughter, her probation oficer has turned her into children services for when the baby comes to be monitered, the father does not work he drinks in his mothers bar all the time he is only 16. My daughter wants to give me her mother temp coustody so the courts cannot place the baby in foster care. Only until she finishes school and gets a job so she can get her own apt. she does not want to be on welfare, she wants to work. We live in Ohio in licking county, is this possible for her to have papers drawn up by an attorny stating that if they try to take her baby that it cimes to me? Please help. Thank you/

She has to get the fathers permission. He has rights to that baby just like she does. AND no matter how young and irresponsible they are, they both have equal right to this baby.
Now, another solution is to just keep your daughter living with you and you help out with the baby while she finishes up all of her undone stuff. That way, the baby is safe and your daughter is in a good position to finish up. You all can come up with an agreement to make sure the father and his family have time with the baby too. We don't want the state involved in any part of your lives unless it is imparative for the safety of the child. I wish you luck!
