Txgreasemonkey, I have a good friend who owns a 93 Civic CX weakling, it has been ultra-reliable until a month or so ago, when it began missing. The gas could be depressed further and it would accelerate past the hesitation. Symptoms began worsening until it just puked one day it wouldn't restart. I changed his plugs(they were cooked) it was also time for the cap and wires. It started right up... but after it warms up, it will begin missing on and off(just ever so slightly), and if you touch the gas pedal, it just shuts off. (after the car is warmed up)
It will refire and idle, sometimes perfect, sometimes with slight missing I can just barely detect. Touch the pedal again, dead. Just like the key was being turned off.
Dist. assembly is new, fuel pump good, new filter, no debris in tank either.
All sounds normal (fuel pump, relay clicks, no check engine light), dash lights sequence okay on start up.
Could this be a cooked ECU? Like I said, cold it acts correct. After 5 minutes of idling in the driveway, I can't make it around the block.
Do TPS sensors really die? Never seen one replaced in 10yrs of honda wrenching.
Does the 8 valve have a temp sensor near the oil filter which may be a gremlin?
I've built 800+hp B- series solid deck drag engines, but I HATE electric problems!
Any thoughts are appreciated.
