Can I convert my old propane gas water heater to electric? It must be replaced ASAP. I was quoted $900.00 for a new propane water heater and advised to convert to electric. I live in a mobile home and the heating is propane, which cannot be changed. The person who told me to convert to electric said the wires can be run easily under the unit and an electric water heater costs about $300.00. Is this possible? I live in DE.

HELP!!

Are you sure it will be only $300 ? Did the house had an electric one before, if not your main breaker box may not have enough power. The electrical work should be done by a licensed electrician, your town may require permit for the work and the new electric boiler... before you do a conversion do a comparison between gas and electric usage cost, 1 kw get about 3414 BTU... yes it could be done, but how much it will cost you
