Is there a an American Standard for Entrance Door Handle Height?

I am looking for a Minimum and Maximum Standard that manufacturers or builders must follow.

I have seen many different variations (33", 36". 38", etc.) - but is there a Standard?

Thanks in advance

36" if this is centered in the stile that is in the center of the door

Other wise center it

Good luck Roger

Roger, thanks for the answer.
Can you provide a reference to a Standard?

I ordered an 8' high door and it came with the door handle bore 31' from the floor.

I do not like th eway it looks, but I was told by the manufacturer that it is their standard regardless of the door height.

I looked at all doors that I could measure (at work and neighbours) and all handle bores are at 36 to 38" from the bottom.

But I am looking for a standard or a building code regulation in order to argue with the manufacturer.

Vladimir

An 8' door?

That is quite a mistake for the MFGR. To make, boring the handle at 31",it looks like they don't want to replace a door of this caliber.

Typical doors are 80"(with frame) I have installed 83" doors, but nothing like what you describe,Was it a special order?

I would ask a door company or local lumber yard their advice on the handle heights, maybe what they think about the company you bought this door from, and who they would contact for a complaint against the MFGR.
