My toilet is no longer flushing; the apparent cause, no water coming into tank.the water is on and no one has done any thing to it but nothing comes in, I have a very basic flapper and no floater ball. What I have is a horizontal tube attached to the flapper.

Red2curls...

I'm going to assume that you have a fluidmaster fill valve or similar type fill valve (see picture below)...

You need to shut the water supply into toilet and then push down on cap of fill valve and rotate so that you can remove it (arm will come off with cap) and access the washer under the cap (pry up and clean of sediment), clean it, pulse shutoff with rag over the valve to clear fill valve of sediment, return washer, replace cap, turn water back on and that may fix it...

If that doesn't fix it you may need to replace the entire fill valve. Easy fix that costs about $9.00 at home depot.

Let me know if that made sense...

Hi Red2curls,

As mark says if it is a fluidmaster fill valve follow his instruction and I am attaching the following images for further info, good luck.

You can also buy a kit that contains a diaphram for a Fluidmaster 400 ballcock.
It is the round black rubber disc that you see when you take tha vlave apart. Pay close attention on how the rubber disc in installed before you take it out, replace it the same way.

Ask for a FluidMaster #242 replacement seal, (see image) and follow Johns instructions. Good luck, Tom
