Hi,
I have a 7 year old Newfoundland/Pyrenees cross. From time to time she has had soft poop, even diarrhea. Maybe once of twice a month or so. For about a week now, she has been alternating soft poop (that has form, not runny), and slight diarrhea. Most frustrating however, is that she has started to poop during the afternoon in a certain area of our kitchen floor. And yesterday she peed in the same spot also.
Weekend before last our dogs were put in a kennel for 4 night (have done this before without problem, same kennel), and just changed their food from Iams ProActive Large Breed to Iams Weight Management (which they have had before without problem).
She is pooping 2 or 3 times per day, is eating normally, drinking normally, and other than the poop issue, is herself.
Help please!!

It could be just be changing her food back and fourth. Have you been giving her anything else other than her regular dog food now that she is back home?
Has she pooped in the house before this? Or is this an isolated thing that she just started to do out of the blue, once you brought her home from the kennel? Maybe she is starting to rebel a bit because she doesn't like going to the kennel? It's so hard to say.
I imagine she is up to date on her shots? Maybe she picked up a bug of some sort while at the kennel. I think if she keeps on having the soft stools, I would take her to the vet and get her checked, just to be on the safe side. Has she had her yearly check-up?
Make sure the area where she pooped and peed are completely cleaned with bleach, or even a vinegar solution, or a 'green' disinfectant, to discourage her from going in the house. Make sure she gets her daily walks and excersise.
That's about all I can think of at the moment. Maybe it's just an upset tummy. Keep an eye on her, and if anything changes, I would get her to the vet.
Good luck! :)

I'm not sure how to reply to you questions (I am new), so I am going to answer the question and hope it works.
She is 7, and a rescue that we adopted 2.5 years ago. This is the first time she has ever went in the house, which is why it is so weird. She is acting like herself, and eating the same amount as she always has, just pooping double the amount.
Both our dogs have spent time in the same kennel (perhaps 2-3 times a year for up to a week), and it has been the same kennel.
Her shots were overdue by 4 days, which I don't think is anything to worry about. Our other dog is fine.
We are going to take her to the vet tomorrow, but I am just so worried.
Thanks

I don't blame you for being a little worried. I would be too. I have my dog Niki that I rescued from a shelter, and I probably worry more than I should sometimes, so I understand. Niki also has never gone to the bathroom in the house from day one, other than twice when she was sick. So I get worried when she does go in the house too.
Try not to get too worried though. It sounds like she is eating and drinking just fine, and you said her demeanor hasn't changed any, so it is likely something minor. I don't believe 4 days overdue for her shots is a big deal.
This site takes a little while to manouveur, but you'll get used to it. It's actually pretty easy when you get to know your way around. If you have any problems, go to the home page, on the top on the left hand side. Scroll to the bottom, and click on help, and it explains everything there.
Welcome to the site. It's one of the best ones around! I hope your fur babe gets a clean bill of health at the vet tomorrow! :) Good luck and keep us posted!

Quoting Fudgeeo:: Took her to the vet today, and they decided that she is allergic to the new food. So you were right with your answer, thanks for assuring me that it was nothing to really worry about.
Oh, I'm so glad you were able to find out the cause, and it was an easy fix. It never crossed my mind that it could be an allergy!
This just might help other people who have the same problem and just can't figure out what could be wrong when everything else seems to be pretty good! Thanks for letting us know, and I hope your fur babe feels so much better! :)
(Everytime I read you name your name I think of the old Fudgeeo cookies... yum!. lol)
