I'm 18 weeks pregnant, what can I take to suppress this cough?
I have had a cough for the past couple of days now. I haven't done anything to help it, so it's getting worse. I can't call the doctor, because I am on medicaid (in texas) and I go to the women's clinic. The doctors all go home at 5 and there are no on-call doctors.
What kind of home remedies can I try to get rid of this cough. It is a horrible horrible cough and it hurts extremely bad. When I cough, my head hurts, my throat hurts and my lower stomach hurts. Also, when I get into a "really good" coughing fit, I throw up. I'm scared that I am going to get dehydrated and have to go to the ER. No matter how much water or fluids I drink, I just throw them up.
PLEASE HELP ME!!

Well, I am not an expert, but I was sick with a cold and cough when I first found out I was pregnant. I called the pharmacy and he said that liquid tylenol was okay. He said to make sure that it was non-drowsy.

Oh, I forgot to put in there that I am stuck at the house by myself. My husband went to work and has the truck. I can't go anywhere.
What about HOME REMEDIES??

You can't have anything with cough syrup in it like halls, or any kind of cough drop, mostly you just have to stick it out try drinking lots of water, I for sucking on a mint helped

The old standbys work well for many women:
Hot tea with honey, or just hot tea on its own
Chicken soup
Steamy bathroom
Tylenol
Warm salt-water to gargle with
Plenty of fluids and rest
Hope you feel better soon!

Had to spread some reputation!
Completely forgot about a hot/steamy shower! Oh and chicken noodle. Wasn't sure if that helped for a cough, though. It's always good for a sick occasion!

I'll try those things. I ate some tomato soup and saltines, but I don't think it helped, because I'm still coughing up lots of stuff. I get a headache every time I stand up, and OH LORD does it hurt!
But, I'll try the steamy bathroom thing and the hot tea.
Thanks so much!

When I got sick at 7 months my fiancé went to the store and brought vicks. When he got back from the store he rubbed it on my feet and put the blanket on me and in the morning I felt better.
Later on the next day he went and brought me a vaporizator and it worked too. I was surprised that he even knew to do that because I was scared to take any medicine. Besides that holding my head over a pot of steam with a towel worked too but the vick worked better.
Hope you feel better!

Sorry it took me so long to get here. Guess I missed it.
You can take ANYTHING labeled Tylenol. Tylenol Cold... Tylenol Flu... Tylenol PM, etc.
Hope you are better by now though.
