View Full Version : Pressure lost

I have a drilled well system. The problem seems to occur after a power outage. I believe water is being used and the pressure in the pressure tank falls below the "cut-in" pressure of the switch and when the power comes back, the switch does not close to activate the well pump. Normally, I would pull on the level on the switch and it will activate the well pump and pressurize the pressure tank up to the "cut-off" pressure, 55Psi. I am not sure what the "cut-in" pressure is, but now when water is used the pressure will drop to almost nothing and the switch will not trigger the well pump anymore. However, I can do it manually. I am not sure why this time the switch will not activate the well pump. My fear is that the pressure tank is broken and has a bladder leak. I read somewhere that the contacts in the pressure switch can get oxidized and it's ability to conduct electricity drops dramatically. Any help would be great.

This leads me to suspect that the small tube that runs from the pump to the control box may be clogged. If this tube were clear the points would close as the system lost pressure. You shouldn't have to turn it back on manually. Check the tube and tell me what you find. Good luck and thank you for rating my answer. Tom
