I'm currently going back to school soon for high school upgrading I have to write a test and was wondering if anyone could help me... I was given a practice exam and I'm having trouble with the math.. (its been a while)

I'm not looking for answers just someone to tell me if I am right, and if I'm wrong could someone help me to figure out how to solve these type problems

17
--- renamed as a mixed number is
4

3 --- 2 --- 4 --- 3 ---
4 4 4 4

I think it is c, I think you it 4/17 is that correct?

QUESTION 2...

given a=1, b=9 and c=4, evaluate 7ab^3 that's cubed

a. 5103
b. 729
c. 54
d. 6

I really don't understand this I thought it was 719*719*719... im really lost

QUESTION 3

multiply (3x+5)(2x+1)

a. 6x+6
b. 5x+5
c. 6x^2 +10x+6
d. 6x^2+13x+5

I got A... but still am very confused

Question 1 - I do not understand. Q.2: Isn't it just plugging the numbers? What is qubed here: just b, or ab? This doen't matter here though, but you have to be careful in general. If (ab) is qubed, then 7*(ab)*(ab)*(ab) = 7*(1*9)*(1*9)*(1*9) = 5103. If only b is qubed, then 7*a*b*b*b = 7*1*9*9*9, with the same answer. Q.3: A is wrong, because in general (a+b)(c+d) = (a+b)c + (a+b)d, or = a(c+d) + b(c+d) = ac+ad+bc+bd. Just plug your numbers in this expression, with a=3x; b=5; c=2x; d=1. And when you are done, make your expression simpler, summing together what can be summed up. Answer: D
