Hello: Every time I try to record something on a CD the first thing I get is a recording of: THUMBS. What is that? How do I stop getting them? Thank you.

Do you mean a file thumbs.db and if so, would you like to not have thumbs.db file created?

You can't. Basically there has to be a temporary file created for the cd or dvd to be burned. You can delete this temporary file aferwards, but you can't prevent this file from being created.

What answer was not given, you asked a question and a question was asked in return to try and help you out with original question

Effort was given but help in that effort was not replied to

Here was my question

do you mean a file thumbs.db and if so, would you like to not have thumbs.db file created?

And you gave no response, can't help if you can't help

You're absolutely correct, seahwk83! More information is needed from the original poster in order to address the question the best.

Thanks!

I am still waiting to get my answer: How do I stop getting Thumbs file written when recording a cd? Is there any more information needed? I do not think so!! If you do not know the answer let somebody else who knows give me the correct answer. Thank you.

>THREE Threads Merged<

There's NO need to be rude.
Reading back it does appear that you have already received a number of response to this issue.
Over all the answer is you CAN'T.
Also why worry anyway as they are relatively small files.

Really depends on how and what you are writing and with which software.
If it's a simple case of Data onto the disc, then simply delete the Thumb before you burn.

chipeke (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/members/chipeke.html) disagrees: No answer given

First, may I call your attention to the guidelines for using the comments feature found here:

https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/feedback/using-comments-feature-24951.html

Sometimes its necessary to ask for clarification before giving an answer as was done in this case.

Second, if you keep posting the same question in new threads you may not be seeing your answers. The correct way to post a follow-up is to use the Answer This Question options.

Finally, the answer is simple. You can't. And its not something you should worry about.

Maybe this will work:
