I have a carrier furnace which occasionally will stop at various times. Lets say it is running fine when we go to bed. Then in the morning it is @64 and I have to take off the door which opens that switch and put it back on. In a few seconds the fan runs to clear the air, then the pilot lights ans away we go!

There is no specific time, but when I noytice it cold in the house, I have to go and do the open-close thing again.
Is it the switch, the board or gremlins?

I will find the Model# and report if that helps!
I did not want a guy to come out ant tell me I need a new one when it might be a simple fix

Thanks
Mike

You need a new one. Lol. I hate intermittent problems. But if you call the tech out while the problem is occurring, they should be able to find the problem. If you call them out while the furnace is working, they can't fix a problem that isn't there. All they can do is guess, or say,, you need a new furnace(which you most likely dont). Older carriers have had a lot of issues. Can be a pain to trouble shoot, especially online. If you could give us more info as to what is happening, we might(and I say MIGHT) be able to help. Odds are you are going to have to call for onsight help. Just make sure the furnace is malfunctioning when the repair man gets there. Don't take the cover off, leave it on until he arrives.

Good luck, I hope you get a competent tech. They should be able to help. Please let me know how it all turns out, and what they find.
