Seahwk83 gave you a good link. But I will reinforce a couple of points and add some suggestions.

Make sure you have the WinXP cd key. Without that key, you will not be able to reinstall without calling Microsoft tech support and they will likely want you to pay for the new key code. The key code should be in the original package the WinXP cd came in. It might also be pasted on a label on the computer case.

Make sure you have all the Drivers for that system. If you have driver disks already, you're set. If you don't, before doing the reinstall, go the computer makers website and download all the drivers for that model. If you don't know what model the system is, you will have to open the case, and look at the motherboard to see what make it is, then go to the MB makers website and find the drivers there. Save these drivers to a USB jump drive or burn them to a CD.
