I have a Kenmore dryer that is not heating and I do not know what I should check or where. I think it could be the heating element but I'm not sure. Any help would be great.

tsimon194-#!-the dryer will run on 110volts and it takes 220volts ac in order for the heating elements to do their job ;;so lets go to the electrical panel box , if you have breakers in the panel you should have a doubl breaker[double 30]now find the right one for the dryer and push the breaker toward the off position and then all the way back to the on position , go to the dryer and see if you have hot air when in the [on][position} {#2}if you don't have a {volt ohm meter you will have to go to lowe's or home depot,they run just a little below $15.00 ,[ get one that you will be able to check up to 220 volts ac}{now that you have a ohm meter}lets get started;(#3)check all the lint screens for blocked and the vent damper out side the wall make sure it is clean and the flappers work real easy{- hope}- you brought your supper, because this is going to be almost like a book , with your new meter {set the meter to 220 volts ac< pull the dryer out from the wall and check the dryer receptical to see if you got 220 volts comeing to the receptical,[#4-] since you do have the 220up to there{ #5}
pull the dryer out from the wall disconnect the power cord, remove the back panel fromk the dryer, {#^]- now i am going on the persumation that the dryer turns the drum but you just don't have {no heat}right? :> #6}-here is a list of the probale causes #6a-no power at wall outlet:#6b-cl:ogged lint screen:: {#6c-faulty thermostate switch::#6d-defective -timer}:{ #6e}-}a faulty overheat protector}[#6f]-defective heating coil[#6g]-defective centrifugal switch};;;. How to use the volt ohm meter to check the parts we need to
make sure there electrical cord is disconnect from the wall:::{ #6c-}remove the top cover where the switches aregetting to where you need to will be from the back- #6c1- remove the two wiresc from the back of the thermostate switch; now with the meter turned on
connect both meter leads on to the wire terminals on the back side of the switch(clip them onturn the switch to any setting except fulff dry:;; set the volt meter to the rx1reading }if the switch is ok but if the voltmeter reads }_high it is meter reads {o}ohms and if the meter reads high the unit is defective::}{#6 -b-lets get the heating coil done - get the rest tomorrow night;; ok remove the v{this test is to find out if it is grounded out - if the meter reads between {8 and 20 ohms the heater is ok now to check grounding to see if we have anything ].ok lets see what it lets connect the meater up to up to the heating coil after takeing off the two wires and the other meter probe to the side of the metal duct;; if meter reads high the heater is good if it swings back toward[ o ] ohms the heating coil is grounded now lets check the high temp cut off protectters:: ok remove {one of the wires and hook one of the probes to the terminal : if the ohm meter reads " O'"and the meter reads high that means that the heater is{ faulty}note - sometimes there is more then{ one}overheat protector;;;note : kulegreg { try these items out and let me { know if one of these has done the job < if it hasn't and you have done them just hioller back ::hope that one of these do the trick:: have a great night and a better tomorrow ::god bless::f.b.e. good night
