Depending on how lavish you want to go ( how much money you plan to spend) anything from finding a small reception hall and getting a cake and punch lined up all the way to hiring a wedding planner and spending many thousands on something that you could still be paying for when the marriage is long over. Your choice. Personally, I would invite family and a few close friends, locate a place for the wedding and reception, provide cake and punch and take the rest of your money for the down payment on a house and a nice honeymoon.

Definitely check out this site. It helped out a lot when my husband and I were planning our wedding. There's a checklist on the site that tells you what you need to have done and in what kind of time frame. You can also find ideas for wedding invites, which is what I did and then we made them.

Im going to the JOP in January to get married. And it was my future wife's idea!! Her thinking is Why are we going to spend thousands of dollars for a 5 hour party. $60 bucks for the marriage license and whatever we decide to wear.

My husband and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on our wedding either. We did a sunset wedding outside and then had appetizers instead of a full meal. Just veggies and cocktail meatballs, fruit, chex mix, etc. then we had a dj and in the last couple hours she hooked up her karaoke machine. The whole bridal party was singing along with a lot of our cousins and friends. It was SOOO much fun. I couldn't tell you how many people told us how much fun they had at the wedding. These are just ideas though.
