This is out of my league and this person is obviously suffering over some issues:

Hi, Judy!

What I like to do if I see that a person has a particular need where I'm sure that I know who would be the best people on the site to address the question, is that I do a mass private message to those people alerting them to the thread. I've done this many times now.

It's worked out really great and the responses are almost immediate!

Thanks!

Does this mean my posting here was inappropriate? I have no idea who the best people are to answer that question and am open to suggestions.

Hi again, Judy!

I'm not saying that your posting here was inappropriate in any way. Posting here was fine. I just happened to be the one who responded to your thread here and am making a suggestion to you based upon how I use this site.

Private messaging is faster if there's a particular, immediate need that needs to be met.

I'm just saying that, from observing the responses of others who post on various forums, that I have kept track of those who might be best at answering particular types of questions. I maintain a list of those who are the best who I can alert by private messaging as needed.

I do that in order to be a team player and enlist those who are the best of us to answer the questions to then participate as a team on any particular thread.

A lot of times, I'll let the person know who is posting a question, that I'm going to be letting others know about his or her question, and then, sometimes I bow out because I know that they are now in "better hands" than I can provide, even though I might have asked questions where the subsequent answers to those questions would be beneficial to those who do eventually come along to address their question.

Private messaging, en masse, does take a little more effort, but by doing so, it recruits the best. It can also be a means to help to "weed out" those who might post things in a frivolous manner because they've already seen all of the excellent responses that have been given.

Thanks!
