If a new employer calls your old employer, what questions will they answer. My concern is that I have been unemployed now for 6 months, and am concerned that my prospects are frowning on the fact that I have been out of work so long. I may just be overreacting as this is the longest time I've been unemployed all my life. Or could I lie on resume and shorted the amount of time that I been out... Basically if the new jop calls the old what info will they give them about me, like reason let go,amt of pay, start and end date etc...

Thank you, Desperate job seeker Earl

A past employer is not required to provide any info. But generally they will confirm employment dates. Sometimes they will do more, but in today's litgious society HR people are being admonished to do no more than verfiy employment.
