Well, I'm really stupid. I have had a lump on the top of the shaft of my penis for almost a year now. It has been scaring the out of me and I'm to nervous to see a doctor, though I know it is very important that I do. I was wondering if you could explain to me if it is cancer or not. It seems to only be visible with an erection and when it is visible I can move it around with my finger. If I push it to the left hand side of my shaft it appears to be no longer visible, if that makes any sense to you or not. The best way to explain it would be as if there was a small pebble located underneath the skin on the shaft. There is no pain associated with the lump. I am currently sexually active but this has been on my penis since I engaged in sex for the first time so I know it is not an std. recently my lymph node on the left hand side of my groin have become swollen but this only lasted for about 3 days before the swelling went down. I have read on the internet that Lymph nodes are associated with penis cancer but I'm not sure if that is only if they remain swollen. Anyway, hopefully you can tell me it's something besides cancer because I'm only 18 and I really don't want to loose my penis. Thanks for your help and input I'm looking/not looking forward to your response aha...

Go see a doctor ASAP. It could be a benign cyst or something else. Try not to jump to conclusions and get yourself all worked up. However it is very imperative that you see a doc to rule out STD'S. Just because you are new to being sexually active doesn't mean your partner or partners are. I know it can be scary but it is part of being a responsible sexually active adult. Taking care of your sexual health.

Yes, but the lump has been present since I was a virgine, which rules out an std.

Hmmmm well if it were me I would want to know what it was. It is kind of important to get things early on no matter what they are. It is difficult to help you out across the computer. Did you ever have a scratch or cut on your penis? Maybe some oputunistic bacteris got in a cut and it got irritated. Go see your doctor and being honest about your concerns, fears and questions.

Yeah, I know it would be really awkward to talk to the doctor about it, but you really should. They see all kind of strange things. And see gentials ALL of the time too. Don't worry about it, they're doctors so they pretty much expect anything, nothing you can say or show them would be too weird.

Just going to one for peace of mind will be well worth it in any case.

Even though it may be embarrassing for you to have a doctor examine you in your genital area it must be done. Book an appointment with your doctor and see what he/she says. If it is cancer you don't want it to go untreated. And for all you know it could be nothing. Wouldn't you like to know if it's nothing or something? I'm currently pregnant and being examined once a week in my area. It is weird and awkward and sometimes uncomfortable but I deal with it. If I can do it every week you can do it just this once. Lol
