Our heat pump makes a loud noise while in regular heat. Emergency heat and
Ac setting do not make the noise. The noise seems to be in the copper pipes. It's not the squirle cage or fans. The copper feed lines are not blocked. Our inside unit is a 1990 Rudd while the outside unit was replaced in 2004 or 2005 and is a Rheem. The compressor seems to be working properly and the noise only happens while in the regular heat mode. The longer the system runs the louder the noise gets. Filter is new, freon level is correct, and pressures seem to be right. It is not a vibration noise in the fans, housing or piping. It seems to be a heavy noise/thumping/vibration? In the copper pipes. The only other problem we have had is that every seasonal change has required us to have the system recharged(low freon). It was recharged less than two months ago. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Vick Z
