How soon after you remove an iud can you become pregnant after having it for 5 years?

IUD's effects are often case/model specific so the best thing would be to speak to your gynaecologist who put it in for you. I think the idea is that your hormones return to normal after several months, up to a year. Unfortunately, the IUD may not be effective at all so there's no guarantee. My partner and I had 2 pregnancies with 2 different IUD's. The first pregnancy occurred after she had been using the IUD for 2 years. So to answer your question, it really depends on your physiology and your body's reaction to the device. As far as I know your periods should return to a normal monthly cycle when your hormones have reset themselves after removal of the IUD, so that might be an indicator for you.
