I do not have any debt, yet I am getting daily calls from a company called NCL. It appears to be a sleazy company and I don't even want to give them the satisfaction of acknowlege-ing them. Can I get them to stop without me doing a lot of work, i.e. letters, etc? They are the ones in the wrong. Thank you very much,

Ignore them, don't return their calls. You can't use your lawyer 'for a heads up' if they don't start sending letters. Which they may do. In that case, give your lawyer a call and have him answer one of their letters.
They wouldn't call you if you didn't have debt. It means they bought the option from the original creditor for so much on the dollar.
We can't help you if you don't tell us everything.

It could be a mistake, but you should never ignore them. Send them a letter stating that all future correspondence should be by mail. Tell them you are not aware of this debt and believe they have made a mistake. So they need to provide proof that this is your debt.

I was in this situation three years ago, due to my husband's bankruptcy. The collection agency was relentless, making threats they could never follow through on; I wasn't intimidated because I knew they couldn't do anything without a judgment. I got to the point where I did ignore them. I didn't return calls. I sent their letters to my lawyer and detailed previous telephone conversations by fax. I never heard from them again.

I still disagree with ignoring them. But if you tell them to only contact you by mail you can ignore phone calls.
