I'm looking for a dog training item. It has been used on "It's Me or the Dog". Appears to be a small, battery operated device that emits a fairly loud sound when the animal approaches a "forbidden" object or area. The trainer placed this device on an oven door and when dog approached, the device sounded and the dog backed off at the offensive noise. It appeared to stick, either magnetically or otherwise, and could be used anywhere - i.e. furniture, doors, whatever you want the animal to stay away from. My dog jumps and barks at the TV and I think this might break that habit. Any answers or suggestions.

Hi. I'd want to know whether the dog still attacks the TV when the sound is turned down, or regardless of what's showing, before I'd try this gadget. Also should consider what breed/age your dog is. May be a problem related to his nature and what he's designed to do. Not so easy to fix something like this with an electronic thing-y. If you'd care to provide more info, maybe I could help...

The dog is a sheltie and he turned 1 year yesterday. He's quite active and I know he's young. But I'm afraid he will break the TV screen when he jumps up at it. It's not the barking I'm concerned about, it's the jumping. The device I'm thinking of does now attach to the dog - just makes a noise that distracts attention from the object to which it is attached.
