We just lost our beloved bear yesturday at the age of 10 and I have another dog who I 've had for 13 years he was the pack leader and he seems to be taking it pretty good for now he saw his brother die and gave him some licks but I was wondering does he really realise that he's gone he saw him pass away .we're still trying to get over the loss they have been together since pups .don't know what to do or to expect

Yes, I firmly believe that animals, especially dogs and cats understand that a member of their pack is dead. That is not to say that they will grieve, however I have seen it in dogs. Animals do not for the most part have the same reasoning powers that humans do. I feel for your loss. Went through the same thing with our career changed guide dog last September at 8 years old, and I still miss him.

Here's something that you might want to do. How about you and others writing things down about your remembrances of Bear? Such writings can make a wonderful keepsake for later on. If you do decide to do that, it would be best to be doing it sooner than later so that memories are the most fresh.
