My cat DC (short for D^%& Cat) is 7 years old. I got her when she was only about 4 weeks. She was born wild. She has always hated small children. She would attack my nieces and nephews so we had to watch her around them. It has become a real problem now that I have a granddaughter who is around a lot. Any solutions?

I need to add more background- She was found on a military base after her mother was killed by an automobile. I had her checked by a vet before I brought her home and she was healthy. She had two litters of kittens before we had her "fixed".
She has always been temperamental and doesn't like most people - adults included. I often wondered if some of my nieces or nephews mistreated her when she was small but never had any evidence of it - only that she bit or scratched them. She will attack if they get within reach. She sometimes does this with adults - but always with children.

Be sure that the cat has a safe place to retreat to. Attacking of children is usually done when the kid corners kitty. If you have a high window, set up a cat perch there. If the cat likes to sleep on a certain chair, or the back of the couch make that area off limits to your Grand daughter.

Simoneaugie,
Thanks. DC does "hide" in my bedroom and Zoey will not go after her. Zoey is learning that she is NOT friendly and DC avoids Zoey too. The problem arises when DC comes out to eat or whatever and they happen to cross paths.
