I just bought a Lynksis G wireless router and am worried I am going to blow up my computers. I will be connecting it to the comp in the office that has the Westell modem and am wondering if it will connect to the bedroom computer that has network capabilities as well as the laptop.

Now, the laptop has connected to other wireless routers in the neighborhood, but I don't know about the bedroom comp.

This language is foreign to me, so I hope you can help with simple layman's terms.

Thanks

If you bought it new, install the software disc it came with on your office computer. It contains linksys Easylink Advisor witch has easy to follow instructions on setting up your home network. I also have a Linksys wireless G for my home network, and a Westell wired router from my internet provider. I run a laptop and a Sony PS3 off my home network.

Well, that didn't quite work. Spent almost an hour on the phone with Tech support and got the laptop up and running, but need a wireless card for the other desktop.

Now I just got to figure out how to get the Xbox 360 online.

Thanks for clearing that up J. However, I NEVER read a manual, I can do it by myself. LOL

Anyway, the problem was a discrepency in IP addresses. That's why it took so long for tech support to get me from point A to point B and finally online.

I am currently online on the laptop in the other end of the house. Now I just need to get the other PC online (I need to buy a wireless card for that one), and the XBox360 online. Looks like some nifty Christmas presents. LOL

BTW:

Did you set the Westell in bridge mode?

That's how I do it.

To do this is very difficult. Well, not really.

I finally got it, but I need a wireless card for the other computer. Now, just have to figure out the XBox.

You probably bought the wrong router for gaming. Didn't ask first.

Here is a Wireless G gaming adapter for the Xbox.

D-Link GamerLounge - DGL-3420 Wireless 108AG Gaming Adapter (http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=383&sec=4)

Probably not as effective unless used with the Gaming router.

Note it's configurable from the Xbox.

Not too worried about gaming, hubby is quite happy with his discs. LOL

Found out I just have to buy an Xbox adapter that will receive the signal of the router. No big deal. Problems solved.

Thanks again, guys.
