My husband is in Iraq and has given me full power of attorney and said he is giving me his rights for our summer visit. The EX does not like this idea and now will not allow me to speak ot the children. I have had a relationship with these children for 3 years and while he is in states everything is fine but now he has left me in charge of paying for childsupport and all medical copays, she will not answer my phones calls or letters to the children. WHat can I do?

I never heard of a fathe giving their rights to someone else and he most likely he can't do that, only a judge can.
It's good that you have a relationship with his kids but it don't seem like you have any legal standing and the mother don't have to let you have communication with them because your not their biological parent and most states can't enforce a parent to let a stepparent have visitations.
Your husband might have made you power attorney of his affairs but that is it. Since the mother is around she has the rights maybe if she wasn't then things would be different. Sorry!
