enfield

I have been in my house for just over a year and for the last 3 months have been suffering from an intermittent eggy drain smell in an upstairs unoccupied single bedroom. It is isolated to this one room and no other part of the house is affected except for when the bedroom door is left open. It has steadily worsened and this evening was the worst it has been even with the window open. I am convinced that this might be partly due to it being very windy outside (work that one out?? ) I have lifted the laminate flooring and the room is just now bare floorboards. I pulled up a couple of boards to try to find out where the smell was coming from without success. The bedroom does back onto the bathroom but the water supply and drainage is on the opposite wall and there is no smell in the bathroom anyway. The dividing wall is solid below floor level so still nothing can creep through from the bathroom. The bedroom is above a kitchen/dining area but the water drainage for that is at least 15 feet away. There is a single storey extension which is a utility room off the dining area with sink, washing machine, dishwasher with waste pipe going down into the concrete floor to link with existing waste pipes on the property I presume. Although this is not directly beneath the bedroom it is close to the adjacent wall yet there is no smell in the utility room. I have tried all sorts of ideas to try to link the smell to something such as draining of waste water from various sources and flushing of toilets without success and now desperation is setting in. Can you think of anything other than a ghost with flatulence?
