View Full Version : Whirlpool dishwasher sprayer arm does not spin, water in bottom!

We have a DU840 inherited in a foreclosed home that we bought. Turned it on and ran through a complete cycle.

However, none of the dishes were cleaned even though the detergent dispenser opened. There was water in the bottom at the end of the cycle.

Apparently, the sprayer arm did not spin and, I suppose, it did not drain, either.

I hit the 'reset' button and turned it on again. It did not sound like anything was happening; just a 'hum.'

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem? I am a novice with dishwashers.

Thanks for any feedback!

You should open the bottom piece of the dishwasher where all wires are find motor and keep turning with a butter knife it until it moves freely this should fix it

Look in the sink cabinet and make sure that the water is turned on. Being a foreclosed home the water may have been turned off in a winterizing process.
